WESTERN KENTUCKY ARTIFACT HEADED TO COLLEGE BASEBALL HALL OF FAME

  • A piece of WKU Hilltopper baseball history is headed to the College Baseball Hall of Fame in Lubbock, Texas.  An official request for the hat, autographed by Ridings, was made by the College Baseball Hall of Fame immediately after his school-record 29th victory, and the senior right-hander obliged.

The game hat from Matt Ridings' groundbreaking victory will be part of the museum's permanent collection. His 29th career win came on March 19 at VCU, giving him the most victories by any pitcher in the 91-year history of WKU baseball. He pitched six innings with three strikeouts, allowing only four hits. Ridings is undefeated so far this season with an ERA of 3.56 in 43 innings pitched.

The College Baseball Hall of Fame collects artifacts from outstanding performances on the college diamond. The items will be archived and displayed at the College Baseball Awards Show in July, other venues around the nation promoting college baseball and eventually in the College Baseball Hall of Fame when construction is completed.
