The College Baseball Foundation and Diamond Sports are proud to announce this week’s National All-Star Lineup.  Burt Hooton, a 2008 College Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee, has his jersey retired this past week at the University of Texas and Coach Mark Marquess of Stanford has now posted 1,343 wins to pass Hall of Fame inductee Rod Dedeaux in victories.  LSU sweeps Auburn behind Ranaudo’s 15 strikeout performance.  Jesse Sawyer of South Dakota State hits 9 home-runs on the week.  See the full National All-Star Lineup below:
  • Phil Wunderlich - Louisville

    Hit .522 with 4 homeruns, 14 RBI, and 6 runs scored.  The sophomore outfielder slugged 1.217 for the week and had a career-best 6 RBI in the Cards mid week win over Indiana.

  • Chris Fetter - Michigan

    Pitched his third complete game of the season striking out 12 and allowed only two runs.  Fetter now leads the Big Ten with a 2.18 ERA and is third on Michigan’s all-time strikeout list with 260.

  • Shane Brown - Central Florida

    Tied the NCAA record by reaching base 18 straight times in a week.  The junior second basemen hit .722 (13 for 18) with 5 doubles, 2 homers, and 10 runs scored.

  • Kevin Brandt - East Carolina

    Picked up his sixth win of the season throwing 8.1 scoreless innings against North Carolina.  The freshman lefty allowed just five hits and struck out a career best 10 to give East Carolina the 4-0 win.

  • Dallas Tarleton - Elon

    Hit .625 with 3 doubles, 8 RBI, and 3 stolen bases to help Elon to a 4-1 week.  The senior first basemen had five homeruns on the week, including three in the weekend series finale.

  • Jesse Sawyer - South Dakota State

    Earned Summit League Player of the Week honors hitting .500 with 15 RBI, 9 homeruns, 2 doubles, and 19 runs scored.  Sawyer hit safely in all eight games and homered in 6 of the 8 in the week.

  • Mark Serrano - Oral Roberts

    Struck out a career high 16 batters against North Dakota State.  In the complete game win, Serrano allowed only two hits.  The senior also pitched 3.0 innings of relief against Arkansas and struck out 7.

  • Derek Spencer - Bowling Green

    Hit .706 (12 for 17) with six homeruns, ten RBI, and twelve runs scored.  The junior third basemen had a slugging percentage of 1.824.   In the weekend series opener, Spencer was 4 for 4 with two solo homeruns and 4 runs scored.

  • Kolbrin Vitek - Ball State

    Led the Cardinals to a 3-1 week in both hitting and pitching.  Hit .588 (10 for 17) with 6 doubles, 3 homeruns, 11 RBI, and 7 runs scored.  The sophomore picked up the win from the mound on Sunday in 7.0 innings pitched striking out a career high 11 batters.

  • Tyler Kehrer - Eastern Illinois

    Pitched a one-hit complete game shutout striking out a career high 14.  Kehrer only gave up on hit in the third inning.  The junior lefty retired the final 19 batters of the game in order and did not issue a walk.

  • Chad Jenkins - Kennesaw State

    The junior did not allow a run in the month of April.  In four weekend starts during the month, Jenkins had two complete game shutouts and one combined shutout in his first three starts.  In the last start, Jenkins worked 8.0 scoreless innings, allowing just 5 hits and struck out 12.

  • Brad Boxberger - USC

    Threw a complete game allowing just one earned run on four hits against Washington State.  The junior struck out 11 and walked just one batter to get the win for the Trojans.

  • Ryan Shopshire - San Jose State

    Threw a complete game (7 inning) 4 hit shutout and struck out 15 batters against Fresno State.  The senior made an appearance against Fresno Pacific and earned the save.  For the week, Shopshire had 8 IP, 6 hits, 1 earned run, and 17 strikeouts.

  • Mark Fleury - North Carolina

    Helped the Tarheels to a 4-1 week hitting .500 (9 for 18) with 5 runs, 3 homeruns, and 11 RBI.  Fleury had three doubles and a triple and four multi-hit games, including three straight against Maryland.

  • Jeff Schaus - Clemson

    Sophomore was 10 for 22 (.455) with seven runs, a double, two homers, nine RBI, and two stolen bases in five games, four of which were against Top 25 opponents.  Schaus hit .615 with a double, a homer, 4 RBI, 3 runs, and no strikeouts against Georgia Tech.

  • AJ Morris - Kansas State

    Threw his second complete game of the season against Texas to set the single season win record for the Wildcats.  Morris is now 10-0 on the year with a 1.27 ERA.  Morris leads the Big Twelve in wins, ERA, and innings pitched (77.2).

  • Chase Anderson - Oklahoma

    In three relief appearances, Anderson held Wichita State and Baylor scoreless in 7.1 innings.  The junior allowed just one hit in three appearances and struck out 10.  Anderson recorded his first win of the season on Sunday, shutting out the Bears and allowing only one hit in 4.1 innings.

  • Anthony Ranaudo - LSU

    Struck out a career high 15 batters in eight innings in the 7-3 win against Auburn.  Ranaudo’s 15 K’s were the most by an LSU pitcher during an SEC conference game since the 1999 season.

  • Coach Mark Marquess - Stanford

    Picked up his 1,343rd win passing National College Baseball Hall of Inductee Rod Dedeaux on the NCAA all-time wins list.  Marquess’s career mark is now 1,343-685-7 in 33 seasons at Stanford.

  • Coach Tony Vittorio - Dayton

    Earned his 500th career win on Friday after rallying his team from a 3-1 deficit in the ninth to beat Fordham 5-3.

  • Coach Robert Braddy Sr. - Jackson State

    Robert L Braddy Sr. Field is the new home of the Jackson State Tigers.  The university named the field in honor of Braddy who led his teams to 12 conference championships, which is the most in SWAC history.  Braddy was the first African American coach inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2003.  He has also been inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame (2005) and the Jackson State Hall of Fame (1985).

  • Burt Hooton - Texas

    Texas honored their first ever three time All-American by retiring his No. 20 jersey.  The 2008 National College Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee boasted a 35-3 record with 386 strikeouts and 13 shutouts during his collegiate career (1969-71).  Hooton still appears at the top of the Texas record books in ERA (1.14), opponent batting avg (.158), and strikeouts per nine innings (11.94).
